You might just think of the phrase "eat my dust" after wandering around San Pedro Town, the only town on Ambergris Caye, a little island off Belize in Central America. But the grit you'll experience is actually part of the reason why it is one of our favorite islandstyle towns. Sandy, unpaved streets where bicycles, walkers & electric golf carts (with no horns) share the road. Only recently have a few taxi vans & construction trucks made the scene, as the whole island has just begun to wake up & grow. San Pedro is one of the friendliest, most laid-back island towns you'll find. It's a town that aims to make itself happy. It caters to the needs & whims of the islanders themselves, as well as to the few tourists who venture here. And what a job they have done...there's a real Belizian zest for living in everyday things. With a Mexican/Caribbean colorful style. Here, something as simple as a street sign, hung along a dusty lane, can make you smile!
