You're
forgiven...Rock
House.
For not being on the beach.
We
were prepared to dismiss this chic little harbor-side hotel, for its not being on the beach.
But
we found it's really no big deal to hop in a golf cart for the couple
minute drive to the beach. The hotel provides umbrellas, chairs & towels to take
with you. And we really looked forward to going "home" after a swim & some
sun.
Back
at the Rock House, we spent our time hobnobbing with other guests (an interesting
bunch from all over the world). Swimming in the pool. Sipping specialty martinis.
Leafing through a collection of books (interesting as you'd expect, since
owner Wallace Tutt designed the Versace mansion). Dining on the candlelit
terrace or in an intimate cabana (the food is fabulous). And relaxing on
a sumptuously fitted bed, fresh orchids by your side.
We
have to admit, staying on the beach is always nice. But it wasn't as important
to us as we thought it would be. The conviviality, comfort & the Rock
House's high-style island decor was enough to keep us happy. And, the terrific
sunsets over the harbor is something you don't get at the beach. We'll
go back.
