Eye Candy
On
a late night in Ibiza (Elvissa) Town, there's eye-candy galore. Watch
who walks by and what they're wearing. Try to land a spot at an outdoor
bar and your view becomes entertainment enough for the evening.
But
do give up your seat for awhile & take a late night walk by the
shops (they're open, of course). You'll see a different take on fashion.
One that's hardly lively but not to be missed. On the mannequins.
Casually
posed out front of shops. Or in windows. But forget what they're wearing.
Most of it is nondescript white cotton frocks anyway. It's the mannequins
themselves that become the show.
Whole
families, city slickers, carnival characters & divas of plastic,
plaster & various compositions silently stand by. But get closer.
Check out their smirks, the innuendos & the playfulness. Most
of these stiffly posed models look like they belong to an earlier
era.
Though
tight-lipped, they do tell you something about the cultural state
of Ibiza. It's an island with a mixed-bag, freewheeling society. Where
young & old, hip & out-of-date blend with perfection. Nothing
is out of the "norm" for Ibiza. Including this bizarre-looking
mannequin population. |
