May's Turn -On
| |

We don't want to
tell you when to go to the Balearic Islands. Because you should go
anytime you get the chance. But May is one of the best months to visit,
if nature turns you on.
Although
you'll miss the beauty & fragrance of their almond trees that
bloom in February, Mother Earth has a lot more to offer come May.
The islands are waking up then, getting ready for summer. Everything
is open & there's enough action to keep most people happy. And
you won't have to deal with the crowds & heat...guaranteed to
arrive later on. That means you'll be able to enjoy the natural beauty
of the islands a little more peacefully & comfortably.
 Here
is some idea of what you'll encounter during May on Mallorca, Ibiza,
Menorca & Formentera: the smell of orange blossoms & orange
groves everywhere (the orange juice is fabulous). Rocky, blue-green
grottos to take a swim (if you can handle the cold). Uncrowded beaches
to sit a spell. A sea of red poppies in field after field (you can
stop to take photos because the traffic isn't bad, yet). Farm animals
& their darling babies eating flowers. Queen Anne's Lace bigger
than you've ever seen. Ancient olive trees with their newest silver
foliage swaying in the breeze. And everywhere the views. Of mountains,
valleys, farms & the next charming little town.
The
islandstyle is just about perfect in May, when nature puts on a show
& the pace is relaxed enough for you to really enjoy it! (editor's
note: Spring 2002 was an amazingly "green" year for the
islands due to a rainy winter. Hopefully it will be the same for you,
when you visit one of these months of May) |
