The Writing's on the Wall

The writing's on the wall for this hotel. Figuratively & literally. If you've already stayed at La Ventana , you know it's the place to stay in Ibiza Town, the capital of Ibiza. Why? Because of its wonderfully, offbeat style. Its fabulous location. And Victor, who makes you feel right at home.

Rooms with balconies are best. Ask for one with a good view. None of the handful of rooms are what you'd call spacious, but all are painted in rich colors & are comfortable. The hotel is in an historic building. Don't expect ultra-modern. Or ultra-luxurious. Just ultra-stylish in a funky sort of way.

The rooftop is special, with its covered terrace for lounging. Moroccan style. It's a perfect place to take in the view. At La Ventana, you're behind the old city walls, where almost no commercial business is allowed. In other words, it's very quiet up there. Unless you are the ones partying. But don't worry. Only moments away, out through the walls are the cafes, bars, shops & all the action Ibiza Town is known for.

The hotel's "Jack of all Trades," Victor (who didn't have a clue what we meant by that phrase), takes really good care of guests. Greeting you upon arrival. Carrying luggage. Preparing breakfast. And manning the front desk. When asked for recommendations, he gladly took time to advise us on where to go "south in the night." (Translated: the liveliest bars & other happenings in town).

You'll also love the writings on the walls at La Ventana, too. Literally. Such profound sayings as "Nothing belongs to you but yourself," & other thoughts to ponder, though not all in one language. And note the pictures, etched directly on the plaster, like prehistoric cave drawings. Along with grandmotherly photographs, Far Eastern beads & old marble floors, this is an islandstyle hotel made for memories. Book early. In the fall, for the following spring. And especially for the summer season.
