"All
Lit Up"
Some of the best island events are the little local ones. The ones only
celebrated on a particular island. Grand Illumination Night on Martha's
Vineyard (Massachusetts, U.S.A.) falls into that category.
One evening every August, Oak Bluffs comes alive with hundreds of paper
lanterns all lit up. Gingerbread houses in the "camp ground"
area are decorated with Chinese, Japanese, home-made & treasured antique
lanterns. Taken down from the attic, just for this one magical night.
Started over a century ago, to mark the Governor's visit, it has become
an traditional island event found nowhere else. Martha's Vineyard Campmeeting

Spur "
This is the year to pick up & go. Last minute style. Rentals on
the New England Islands are down. Between "911" & the
economy, deals can be made. Even on prime rental properties.

Feta"
 Get
your camera ready for something really exciting. Now is the time to book

"Material
Girl"
A classic island movie, "Swept Away," has been updated. With
more costume changes this time around. Due out in September, Madonna
plays a loud-mouthed, wealthy jet-setter, on a yacht in the Mediterranean.
Filmed around the island of Malta, Sicily.
Being Madonna, she obviously does justice to the cruise collection "costumes"
she wears. In August's Harper's
Bazaar we get a peak. Gucci, Fendi, Missoni & von Furstenberg.
Madonna is perfectly cast as the material girl of the movie. Let's just
hope this version of a classic film isn't too swept away with its "look"
to get the movie right. Stay tuned.
