| September
is the month...
September is the month to...come back from your summer vacation &
start thinking about going again. This time on a little getaway in November,
when everyone else is hunkering-down for the winter, as it gets cold up
north.
Getaway
to the newest Island Outpost Resort, the Kamalame
on Andros. Experience warm water one more time before Christmas!

"More
than the Hula"
Start island hopping. That's the way to really enjoy the Aloha
Festivals held all over the Hawaiian islands this month.
From September into October, the festivals include floral parades, food
feasts & contests, dancing, film, beach events, concerts & even
some paniolos (Hawaiian cowboys) strutting their stuff.
It's more than learning the hula. It's your opportunity to enjoy the true
essence of these beautiful Pacific islands (and learn the differences
among them), as Hawaiians celebrate their past & present through festivities
on all the islands.

"Venice
Bottled"
We're
taken in by anything that reflects Venice. maybe you are too. Enter
the new fragrance by Adrienne Vittadini, called "Venezia".
Available at Sephora,
Venezia describes Venice's spirit written in script on the bottle. As
for the fragrance, its basically a floral blend. It may be a little
too sweet for some. And for fans of Laura Biagiotti's discontinued "Venezia",
( which you can still get a Fragrance
Wholesale) it does't compare.
At least we can
report the new "Venezia" is not in the least reminiscent of
Venetian canals in the summer, right?

"Scary
or Funny Man?"
You'll
be hearing more about Nicola Cristaldi, mayor of the Sicilian town of
Calatafimi. If his plans for the Roman Catholic Mount Rushmore of Italy
pan-out.
The mayor's religious
take on Rushmore, means Mother Teresa, Pope John Paul II & others
will become much bigger than life. In fact, they'll be visable from space!
Effigies will be made of resin & actually glued onto a montainside
near Segesta, close by two of the best preserved classical monuments in
the world.
Called his "mystical
park" Cristaldi hopes to cash-in on religious tourism, while encouraging
the development of hotels in the area.
Not officially turned-down
yet. This is what you'd call "scary & funny" at the same
time. As long as it doesn't get past the drawing board that is!

"Bali Bucks"
The new mailorder catalogue of home furnishings, West
Elm may have that island accent piece you've been looking for...even
if the catalogue doesn't have an island theme. Think warm chocolate
browns, palm green & white. A modern take on Bali.
Check out their
woven coffee tables & chairs. A piece or two is enough, so your
decorating won't look like a catalogue ensemble.
You won't get exotic
wenge wood ( fabulous, but expensive ) because the items represented
here are from Williams-Sonoma, who also do Pottery Barn. What you will
get is little Bali Hai for little bucks!
