Dubai, Oh My!
So outrageously inventive. So over the top. You must read the in depth article, "Planet Dubai" in the August issue of Conde Nast Traveler.com (Susan Hack, author & Lisa Limer, photographer). Hack reports from the Persian Gulf on an incredibly bizarre project for Dubai.

Ponder this: Officials claim "two palm-shaped vacation atolls with 17 fronds will be the first man-made islands to be visible from outer space." The island dream, right off the drawing board, will include "5,000 homes and 30 hotels" for each 'palm.' Disney would have been impressed with the think-tank behind this vision. You'll be outright amazed at what's going on.

New Hotel for Martha's Vineyard
Newly opened Mansion House has brought accommodations up a notch on Martha's Vineyard. But be aware that it's right smack in Vineyard Haven's most frenzied location. Inside they're trying to iron out the last details: There's a problem with the indoor pool. And the top floor is not open yet (where the best rooms & best views can be had).

Nonetheless, the Mansion House is a good choice: 32 rooms, spa & great shopping right out front. Unless, of course, a quiet or more beachy location is more to your liking.

Ibiza Revealed
We hope you caught it. The August issue of British Vogue magazine. "Fashion Island" is a great expose on the pleasures of Ibiza. Island regulars, like Jade Jagger, reveal what's 'hot' on this Balearic beauty.

We can't help but comment, however, on a couple of the listings we're familiar with: They call La Ventana "luxury boutique." The hotel is definitely more "funky boutique." And why wasn't Cala Llenya Beach mentioned? It's one of our favorites.
Even so, the article is a great all-round guide to Ibiza. If you'd like a copy, write to us at editor@islandstylebook.com.

Paradise Awaits
The World Wildlife Fund has designated Vis as one of the Last 10 Paradises in the Mediterranean. Powerful statement, eh? Steps are being taken to preserve the wildlife & beauty of this Croation Island. Fabulous diving & great seafood are two reasons to visit. Another might be just to see an island called "paradise" for yourself.
